19th March 2020

We would like to take the opportunity to set out Open Minds’ position on managing the risk of Coronavirus.

Open Minds have taken the very difficult decision to suspend face to face counselling sessions for the time being.

Given the government's guidance on social distancing in order to limit the rate of spread of Covid19 we believe this is the correct response.

Our staff will work remotely wherever possible, which means we will only be able to respond to telephone calls and messages between 10am and 5pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

You can email us on openminds@counsellingdoncaster.com and we will aim to respond Monday to Friday, as more of our team can access email than can answer the phone line.

We are also not accepting new referrals for counselling during this period as we are not in a position to triage, assess and allocate clients to therapy at present.

Please bear with us and we apologise for the inconvenience during this difficult time.

As soon as we are in a position to do so we will return to normal functioning. Thank you for your understanding and your kindness.

We are monitoring any developments to the situation and will provide updates where necessary.

You can also learn more at  https://111.nhs.uk/service/covid-19.

If you are worried about your mental health deteriorating and do not have access to face to face therapy due to you or your counsellor self-isolating we recommend the following sources of support:

  1. You can phone the Samaritans 24/7 on 116123

  2. You can phone the NHS access team 24/7 on 01302 566999

  3. You can also free access support through the supportive online network run by Mind; https://www.elefriends.org.uk/login

Yours Sincerely

Helen Mason

Thank you for your time and we look forward to receiving the referral.

We are very sorry but we are not accepting new referrals for counselling during this period of pandemic as we are not in a position to triage, assess and allocate clients to therapy at present.

We are very sorry for any delay in contacting us.

We have 2 telephones and are also frequently contacted by e-mail for appointments,

this does mean that it can take a while to get through to us.

If you phone us on 07765 224564 and leave a message (or text that number) we are likely to respond sooner.

If you have left us an answerphone message,  text or e-mail and not heard back within a week we suggest phoning again.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
