In 2017 Open Minds celebrated our 10th anniversary!

Since then our work has expanded even further

and you can learn more about the numbers of people we have helped so far here in the diagrams in the gallery below, or in the PDFs

This information is correct as of July 2018

We celebrated our anniversary and our big birthday with a fund raising escape room adventure.

We raised nearly £500 and used this to increase the hours of counselling we provided to children and young people.

We were also gifted a 10th anniversary logo by one of our volunteers, Alan Morgan, for which we are very grateful.

We also celebrated by putting on 3 months of subsidized training on specialist counselling skills and ways of working with people with complex trauma.

Our team of specialist, highly experienced counsellors wrote and delivered half of this training, on working on anger-management, on working with people who are suicidal and self-harming, and on working with people who have experienced bereavement, or who are in palliative care.

The other half of the training was provided by Healing Our Way (HOW), a team of trainers who specialise in helping professionals improve their trauma informed care. HOW taught our counsellors and other local professionals about ways of understanding and improving our working with people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, sexual exploitation, or who experience dissociative disorders.

Healing Our Way are an amazing training organisation, and we recommend them to all professionals working with vulnerable people.
