Learn about Open Minds and our work here:

Our waiting list for fully funded counselling with adults is typically 3 - 4 months and for children it can be up to 6 months.

We are a charity and our resources are limited. We exist to make sure that anyone can access therapy, without being excluded by their financial position. This being said our funding does not cover all of our costs so we do ask for a contribution for those who can afford to make it, whether of £2 or more if possible.

Income donated by clients helps to pay for the costs not included in our funding such as an Employee Assistance Programme to help care for team members.

If you cannot afford to pay at all this is completely fine.

We have a limited number of fully funded counselling slots available, but if you can pay £30 a session we can employ a counsellor specifically to work with you or your child.

This allows us to offer therapy much sooner than our waiting list for free or subsidised therapy.

The link for non-concessionary (NC) referrals is here (children aged 8 and over, and adults):

The quality of the counselling service you receive is not affected by whether or not you can make a contribution.

Our counsellors are all wonderful human beings who are in the business of caring for others.

We are offering in person, telephone or online therapy to adults

Because we cannot see everyone at this difficult time we have collected together 100s of resources, activities and links to help you at www.openmindslibrary.com

Under 14s may be offered face to face counselling on Saturdays at a time between 10am and 1:30pm at Open Minds, or video / telephone therapy after school on weekdays, subject to counsellors being available and in accordance with government safety guidelines

Young people aged 14 and over will be offered video calling or telephone counselling

we support a lot of children who are gender non-conforming, transgender, or exploring their gender identity.
We fully believe in the importance of being able to use your therapy to explore who you in, and this includes your gender, sexual orientation and more.
As such we are trying to gather more evidence to show what this means to the individuals we support . This evidence is anonymous.
